Canary Islands
The Canaries series follows Tenerife’s 1494–1496 conquest and the later grants, livestock lease and household records associated with Juan Dara and Catalina Sánchez. La Orotava and northern Tenerife also appear in Francisco Báez de Benavides’s sworn examination. Francisco’s film begins with this island setting before turning to northern New Spain.

About this map and its geography
These are settings from the published films and person records. A pin can represent a town, island, installation or wider region; each place explains its scope. The stories belong to different people and periods.
Made with Natural Earth, 1:110m land and 1:50m Canary Island outlines. Public-domain coastline data, projected and rounded for this self-contained locator. The Canary Islands use finer 1:50m outlines. Coastlines provide modern geographic context; no political boundaries are drawn. Public-domain terms.
The Places in Their Time collection provides the archive’s separate queue for deeper historical place contexts.
